I have always been keen on singing and am a comparative “newbie” to barbershop, having only joined in the last 4 years or so. I first gave it a go after my wife saw an advert for the chorus’ ‘learn to sing’ course. It was really refreshing that the chorus focused on the joy and fun of singing and making people smile. That said, it is great that, while we may laugh during rehearsals, we are serious about trying to make our music as good as possible. Everyone learns at their own pace and there is a huge range of musical experience, from those who can’t sight read all the way to semi-professional musicians. We all help each other and we learn and improve in a really supportive and positive manner.

Overall, I work full time in the City and, for me, singing with the chorus is a wonderful way to wind down and focus on something completely different and joyful.
