6 years ago - my wife picked up a 'flier' for Ouse Valley Chorus's 'Come and Sing' sessions - a 4-week taster course. When she realised it was an all-male chorus, she passed the flier on to me. I had sung on and off all my life in folk clubs and at open mike nights in 'music pubs' but never all that seriously - and I had never really learned how music works - more specifically, I had no idea how vocal harmony works - and this OVC taster course seemed to be a place where I might learn. I just got going when Covid struck and we had to be content with meeting via Zoom for 15 months, but since then, I've really gotten into it. It's been surprising how much of my Primary School music lessons I could remember - because they were the only musical theory I was ever taught. I love singing in the chorus - it stretches me to learn new songs (in baritone) - and now that OVC merged with Shannon Express, to become A1 Acappella - performing in public is such great fun.
